Enhance Your Home Security
You can plan your landscape to make your home a less attractive target to theives while still enhancing its beauty. A few suggestions:
- Plant prickly shrubs or thorny plants under windows but be sure to keep them
trimmed lower than the windowsills so they don't interfere with using the windows as emergency fire exits. - Keep trees pruned high to reduce hiding places. This also helps with fire defensible space.
- Keep shrubs trimmed lower than 3 feet especially near doors and driveways to further reduce hiding places.
- Lock your tool shed and garage because your own tools and equipment can be used to gain entry to your house.
